Native People’s Encyclopedia Receives Outstanding Academic Title Award For The Second Consecutive Year
Mesa Verde Publishing and M.E. Sharpe’s Native Peoples of the World: An Encyclopedia of Groups, Cultures, and Contemporary Issues, edited by Steven L. Danver, Ph.D., has been named to Choice Magazine’s 2013 Outstanding Academic Title list.
Choice is a resource that academic librarians, faculty, and key decision makers both in the United
States and around the world refer to in order to determine which titles to add to their library’s collections, and is carried by almost every college and university library in the United States.
Selection to their Outstanding Academic Title list is based, among other criteria, on excellence in scholarship and importance relative to other literature in the field. Native Peoples of the World is a first of its kind reference that profiles indigenous groups, the nations they live in, and the issues they face in the modern world.
Dr. Steven L. Danver, General Partner of Mesa Verde Publishing and the book’s editor commented, “Undertaking a book on a topic of this scope presented many unique challenges. I am thankful to the five associate editors that assisted me with their specialized skills and the over 140 contributing authors who lent their expertise to create a resource that will help people around the world understand more about the Indigenous peoples that live around them.”
